Frequently asked questions
Do I need a driving licence for the Eli ZERO?
The Eli ZERO is a moped car. You can drive it with an AM category licence from the age of 14. In Estonia, people born before 1 January 1993 do not need a licence to drive a moped car.
How fast does the Eli ZERO go?
The Eli ZERO has a top speed of 45 km/h, as required for moped cars – plenty for city traffic.
How far can I drive on one charge?
Up to 100 km with the standard battery. With the Premium package you can order a larger battery for up to 200 km.
Where and how long does it take to charge?
The Eli ZERO charges from a standard 230 V household socket at home or at work, or from a Type 2 charger. The 100 km battery charges in about 2.5 hours, the 200 km battery in about 4.5 hours. Charging time is the same from a socket or a Type 2 charger.
Do I have to pay motor vehicle tax on the Eli ZERO?
No. The Eli ZERO has no registration fee and no motor vehicle tax.
How much does it cost to drive?
At average electricity prices, 100 km costs about 2 euros in energy – even in winter.
Is the Eli ZERO suitable for winter?
Yes. Every Eli ZERO sold in Estonia has battery heating. In our January test at −12 °C, an Eli ZERO with the 100 km battery covered about 90 km.
What warranty does the Eli ZERO have?
The vehicle has a 2-year or 20,000 km warranty and the battery a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.
How much does insurance cost?
Comprehensive (kasko) insurance costs about €350–500 per year, depending on the owner and equipment level. If you buy on lease, comprehensive insurance is mandatory.
How many people and how much luggage fit in?
The Eli ZERO has two seats and a 160-litre boot – enough for shopping bags, a sports bag or a couple of suitcases.
